OGR 1st Annual
Pointing Dog Championships


Ribbons and Cash Prizes will be awarded.  There will also be a raffle, lunch, snacks and refreshments. 

Registration
Entries are limited to 10 teams for the day available on a first come basis. At least one member of the "team" must be a member of the OGR Chapter.  The entry fee is $100 with each entry application. Payment may be a money order, bank draft or personal check made payable to OGR NAVHDA (no cash). Applications AND check must be received by.  The final running order will be set 1-2 weeks prior to running.

Entry Rules

A "team" consists of 2 gunners hunting over 1 dog.
A maximum of 2 dogs may be entered by any one person.

No electronic or dummy collars are permitted.

Females in season will be run last.

Prizes

1st Place:  First Place Ribbon and $200 cash
2nd Place:  Second place Ribbon and  $150 cash
3rd Place:  Third Place Ribbon and  $100 cash

The Hunt
Each team will have 30 minutes to hunt the designated area.
The presence of 5 chuckar will be confirmed prior to each hunt.
Each team is allowed to use a total of 16 shells in the field. Bring your own shells.  Shot size: 6's or smaller;  Gun size: 12 ga or smaller
Blaze orange vests and/or hats are required during the hunt.

Scoring
Once a team bags 5 birds, their hunt is over.  Points are awarded as follows:
5 point for every minute under the 30 minute maximum not used.
5 point will be awarded for every shell not used.
10 points for each bird bagged.
25 points will be awarded for a dog's point of each bird.
25 points will be awarded for each retrieve. **All birds must be retrieved.
50 bonus points for a water retrieve.

A Judge will walk each 30-minute hunt. The Judge's decision is final.
**It will be up to the discretion of the judge to award a bird not shot due to safety circumstances beyond the team's control.  


Dogs will be allowed to "take out" a maximum of 2 birds, receiving only 25 points for the retrieve and costing the team 2 shells per bird. No points will be awarded for birds taken out there after.
 Dogs do not have to remain steady to shot.

Definitions
A "point" for the purpose of scoring dog performance will be deemed as, "staunch, intense and unmistakable to point."

A "retrieve" will be defined as "the return of game to the immediate proximity of the handler/gunner."
