Changes to Summer/Fall Training & Testing
July 1, 2020
OGR Members should have received the following communication by email on July 1st, 2020. If you are a paid member and did not receive the email, please let us know so we can add you to the mailing list!
First, we would like to say thank you to everyone for your patience as we have worked through our plans for training/testing this year with the unprecedented impact of this pandemic. We hope all of you are staying safe and well.
As many know, Mother NAVHDA is working closely with Chapters to ensure we have options against the challenges we face. We wanted to provide an update on our plans for testing/training this summer and let everyone know of the key changes we have decided on to offer the best and safest opportunity to our members.
Changes: · Due to the cancellation of similarly timed events at Luther Marsh, we are moving the test to Ruffwood Game Farm (near Cayuga) to ensure we are able to host a test this fall · As a result of moving to Ruffwood, the test will be for Natural Ability only; we have added a third day to the test based on the amount of entrants/interest, but please note that the test is currently full · For now, Training days in August will be at their current times and locations with a priority for those entered in our fall test (please let Jim <jjlbaker@rogers> know now if you will be attending a training day so we can have an idea of the amount of interest)
· We will be scheduling specific time slots on training days for individuals, to try to minimize the number of individuals on the grounds at one time (thank you in advance for being flexible)
We realize the training and testing circumstances this year have not been ideal, and as a result we have decided to roll over membership for members in 2020 to 2021 (ie. If you are a member this year, you will be a member next year free of charge). Alternately we will refund your membership for this year if that is your preference.
For those who will be training and testing, please bring your own mask, water, and food to any events you will be participating in. We will be maintaining appropriate physical distancing based on the Ontario Government guidance. We will have hand sanitizer available at appropriate locations, and will be disinfecting items such as bumpers that may be shared by the group. Should you or individuals in your home be displaying any COVID19 symptoms at the time of training/testing, we ask that you refrain from attending; any fees you have paid will be refunded in this circumstance. For those unable to test/train with us this year, we sincerely apologize as we know people invest great energy, effort, and time in preparing your dogs.
As mentioned above, we are looking to limit the number of individuals on the grounds, but a small number of volunteers will still be required at each event. Please let us know if/when you would be able to assist!
Detailed instructions have been sent to those who have signed up for testing. Please let us know if you have any questions!
We would like to take a moment to thank Mother NAVHDA for their support to all chapters, to our judges who are stepping up for our testing, and to our volunteers, test entrants, and membership… thank you again for all your patience, flexibility, and support! Hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather!
